Think about a time when someone challenged your opinion or told you that you were wrong. What was the disagreement about, and how did you defend yourself? Did you change their mind, or did they change yours? - 10/19/2026

Prompt Response: When I happily told my parents that color guard is a competitive sport, they immediately made fun of the idea and labeled it as a music hobby. They argued that because it lacks direct physical contact, it couldn't possibly be categorized with sports like swimming or soccer. To defend my opinion, I highlighted the intense athletic demands of the activity, explaining the intense cardio conditioning, muscle memory, and extreme physical coordination needed to spin heavy rifles and flags. I also pointed out that color guard features regional competitions where teams are strictly judged on athletic performance. While they didn't completely change their mind right away, my evidence forced them to respect the sheer physical toll and dedication the activity demands. Finally, we reached a middle ground where they finally acknowledged color guard as a highly athletic, competitive art form.

Summary: In class we started to take notes about Argument Essays, Pathos, Ethos and Logos.

Reflection: After getting into depth it helped me to know the concept of ethos, pathos and logos way better. It also helped me to know how to write Argumentative Essays way better.
