My Experience In American Lit So Far - August 28,2026

 Prompt Response: My experience on American Lit so far has been a great experience just being in this class, teaching more about myself and what I can improve not just as a student but also as a person when it comes to writing. Throughout the course of this four and a half weeks timing, turning in my assignments on time has been what’s been going well for me, especially since this year when I’m starting to use a planner to plan out all the things I have to do for the week and it helps me be organized even when I have stuff to do after school. What has been challenging for me is that since the beginning of the school year was to keep up with the Friday blogs because in Fridays I go to the football games for marching band, and lately the games have ended late at night and I would be stressing on the way back to school to finish the blog so I won’t be worried about it throughout the weekend. Finally, one thing that I’m looking to improve moving forward is that I don’t have to worry about finishing it on time and just turn my assignment all looking rushed but rather one that looks nicely done even if I finished it in the weekend. With all of this in mind I know if I improve I will have a great year in American Lit.


Summary: Today in class we were working on an assignment where we could choose to analyze 10 out of 20 Emily Dickinson quotes.


Reflection: Reading and analyzing Emily Dickinson’s quotes today has helped me to learn how to properly analyze any form of literature instead of just reading. The assignment that we did today also has helped me to understand that it doesn’t matter if I finish it in class but rather how well I finish it.

A phrase that I found myself using the most - August 31,2026

Prompt Response: A phrase that I found myself using the most right now is “what is up my guys”. I started to use this especially since the beginning of the school year when one of my teammates and best friends from my color guard team, Danny, started to say it every time she saw one of us just arrived at school. To be honest ever since I joined color guard I started to pick up things that they say or do and this was not an exception especially when it sounded funny every time she said it.   Prompt Response: The experience of me living through the Black Lives movement in 2020, it gave me a firsthand look at how fast the world can completely flip upside down, which helps me understand the sudden shock Americans felt after 9/11. When the video of George Floyd went viral it felt like an overnight shift where normal life stopped and an overwhelming wave of anger, fear and uncertainty took over every news channel and social media. Just like the years after 9/11 there was this intense, heavy feeling in the air where nobody knew what was going to happen next or if our society would ever go back to normal. Watching cities fill with massive protests and seeing military-style police on the streets showed me how a single event can immediately shatter your sense of safety.
